Growing up, I never considered myself an artist, instead I considered myself an athlete. I took dancing classes, skied, swam and played baseball, softball, basketball and my favorite, soccer. I was a very competitive child and found it rewarding to practice and train. Glassblowing caught my interest immediately because the process and required teamwork reminded me of a sport. The glass studio challenges me physically while also allowing me to express myself artistically.
I am originally from the Pinelands in New Jersey and lived most of my life only a few miles from the coastline. When creating glass pieces I find that most of my inspiration comes from the landscape that surrounded me as I grew up. The objects I create are often visual depiction of the feeling of being “home”.
